Hello! Welcome back to a new, exciting school year. My name is Scottie Martin and I am one of 3 Moderate Needs Teachers here at Rock Ridge. What’s a Moderate Needs Teacher? Well, to me it’s the most rewarding occupation in the world (next to being a mom). I get to fulfill my lifelong dream of working with students of varying needs and abilities. Everyday I have the opportunity to work with students in multiple grades and find out how they learn and what makes them unique. You can find me all over the school in various classrooms as well as working in my room with small groups to support student learning. I am so blessed to work with students who touch my heart every day.
My students receive support based on their IEP goals. Small groups and support time focus on the individual needs of students. My goal is for my students to build self confidence, show responsibility, take risks in learning and to have fun on the journey.
I believe elementary school is an exciting journey. It’s a time where young students have the opportunity to develop and grow. School should be a positive experience where kids discover about friendships, learning, and possibilities. Unfortunately, my memories of elementary school are not fond ones. School and learning were difficult for me at this age. My wish is that my students will want to come to school and that it will be a positive environment where they are known, supported to grow, and always encouraged to do their best.
This will be the start of my 17th year at Rock Ridge Elementary. I have worked in education for 29 years. 5 of those years were in the general education classroom as a classroom teacher.
I attended the University of California at Irvine where my B.A. is in Social Ecology with and emphasis in Criminology. After graduating, I attend Chapman University in Orange County. At Chapman, I earned my Multiple Subjects Teaching Credential. In 2000, I graduated with my M.A. in Special Education.
I grew up in Northern California in the Bay Area of California. In high school, I played volleyball competitively and earned an athletic scholarship to UC Irvine. When I’m not working, I enjoy reading, spending time with my kids and family, and being outdoors. I like to hike, play grass and sand volleyball, sit in tree stands while my family hunts, and spend time with our dogs, Teva and new puppy coming soon. My family shoots archery and we can often be found on weekends shooting our compound bows at 3D targets in the woods!
I have 2 children. My son, Keegan, plays basketball at Florida College and attended Rock Ridge all the way through. Sydney, my daughter, is beginning to work in the business world and also attended Rock Ridge. There was no greater joy than going to school with my children every day. I was so blessed to have their presence near me while I worked the job I was always meant to do.
If you have any questions, please know you can get a hold of me best by email at INTERNAL LINK [email protected]. I check my email several times per day. I’d also be more than happy to speak with you. You can contact me by calling the school. I am looking forward to meeting your students and your families and I know that together, we will make this an unforgettable year!
Class Rules:
Class rules were created by all the students contributing to how our classroom is a family. Each student gave feedback and finished a sentence stem about how we will be in this classroom family.
Homework Bags:
-Bags are to travel back and forth from home to school daily.
-Please help your child develop consistent habits checking their bag and returning them to their backpacks daily.
-If you have questions regarding your specific child's homework situation, please reach out.
This is my eleventh year at Rock Ridge. I am one of two speech language pathologists at Rockridge. I love working with children and have been a speech therapist for many years.
My name is Tricia Bostwick and I am a significant support needs teacher. This is my 12th year at Rock Ridge Elementary. In addition to teaching an array of grade levels at Rock Ridge, I have worked extensively with children for over twenty years within a variety of contexts. Besides raising six children of my own, I have operated a daycare center, volunteered at local schools and churches, served as a school administrative assistant and a para-educator, and completed my degree in elementary education and K – 12 Special Education with aspirations to see the children I’ve taught grow into successful adults.
I believe the most effective learning environment for children stems from a constructive partnership between educators and parents. That said, I want you to know that my door is open for you. If you have concerns, I ask that you contact me either before or after school, so that we might discuss this privately without disrupting instruction time. The best way to contact me is via e-mail at INTERNAL LINK [email protected]. I am looking forward to a great year!
My name is Amy Antes and I have been an occupational therapist for the past 15 years. My career began in the Chicago area where I opened a private pediatric therapy clinic. I have always enjoyed working with children and helping them to achieve their dreams. Life changes brought me to Colorado where I changed my focus from clinic based treatment to work in the educational setting in the Douglas County School District. I’m excited to be a part of the Rock Ridge Team and their students.
