Hi, My name is Dawna McKnight and I am the school counselor at Rock Ridge Elementary! I have been working in public education since 2002.
When I am not at Rock Ridge, I like to work in my garden, travel, read, yoga, geocaching, and watch my 2 children play various sports.
What does a school counselor do? I teach whole class lessons and support our RRE teachers with the Second Step Curriculum. I work with students individually and in small groups to support social, emotional, and academic skills. I support the RRE Mental Health Team with crisis intervention. I help support families with local resources and services. I am here to support students, staff members, and families during the school day. For on-going individual and small group counseling services, I will need a consent form signed and returned. There is a Consent Form in the Links section.
My name is Ryan Conaghan, and I am very excited to be joining the Rock Ridge team as your school psychologist this year! I am a recent graduate of the University of Denver’s school psychology program, and completed my training right here in Douglas County!
Because I am new to Colorado, when I am not at school I love exploring new parks and restaurants in the Denver area! I am also an avid soccer fan, and equally love spending time with my friends, family, and two kittens (Rocky and Aspen) at home!
As your school psychologist, it is my role to work alongside the Rock Ridge mental health team in supporting our students’ social, emotional, and academic growth. I have the pleasure of getting to collaborate every day with staff and families alike in helping Rock Ridge students reach their goals.
