Welcome! I am very excited about the upcoming school year! I have been in the education field for over twenty years. The majority of my career has been spent teaching first grade, but I have also taught third, second, and worked as a reading interventionist. When I am not teaching, you may find me hiking on the trails near my home or spending time with family. I am looking forward to a great year and being a partner in your child's education. If you ever have any questions or concerns, you can contact me at kayoungberg@dcsdk12.org.
Hi, my name is Mrs. Mindy Shoemaker.
This is my 13th year on the first grade team at Rock Ridge Elementary. I am ready for an exciting year for the 2024-2025 school year!
I received my bachelor's from Western Illinois University with a degree in Elementary Education, Bilingual Education and Spanish. I taught first grade bilingual in Dallas, Texas y por eso ¡hablo español! This school year is my twenty second year teaching 1st grade.
I enjoy camping, hiking, biking, fishing and especially reading! My son and daughter graduated from Legend High School. We love Douglas County Schools!

I am very lucky to be a teacher at Rock Ridge! Over the years, I have taught first, second, third and fourth grades! The kids love coming to school, are so funny, and learn so much over the year! We have some great curriculum and have a variety of I.B. planners that will challenge the kids' thinking!
I grew up near Castle Rock and went to Douglas County Schools myself. After graduating, I went to Colorado State University for my undergraduate, and University of Northern Colorado for my Masters. When I'm not teaching, I love to be in the mountains with my wife, two kids and smelly hound dog.
